Post-construction cleaning checklist for Miami homes.

Your renovation is done. Here is how to get from construction dust to move-in ready: what to sort out first, what the final clean covers and what it costs.

From our work

The short answer

Wait until the work is finished and the fine dust has settled, make sure the debris is gone, then book the final clean: construction dust off every reachable surface, floors and edges, reachable interior glass and the inside of empty cabinets.

In Miami, a whole home costs $380 under 700 sq ft and up to $2,305 for 4,500–4,999 sq ft. Only some rooms? A kitchen is $215, a full bathroom $165 and a bedroom $135.

Hauling debris and residue that needs specialist treatment aren’t part of a cleaning.

Before the cleaners come

  1. Finish the work. Last touch-ups done, fixtures in, paint dry. Cleaning before the last trade leaves means cleaning twice.
  2. Let the dust settle. Fine construction dust keeps falling for a day or two after the work stops. Book the clean for after that.
  3. Have the debris hauled away. Ask your contractor to remove debris, packaging and leftover materials.
  4. Flag unusual residue. Paint, adhesive, grout haze or cement on surfaces? Tell us before booking.
  5. Check your building’s rules. Many Miami condos ask you to reserve the service elevator or send a vendor’s certificate of insurance in advance.
